Luis Suarez has tested positive for the coronavirus and will not be able to reunite with his former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi.
At a Glance Sports – Luis Suarez has just been confirmed to have the coronavirus by the Uruguay Football Association (AUF).
This made him unable to reunite with his former teammate Lionel Messi when Atletico Madrid hosted Barcelona on Sunday (11/22/2020) WIB.
The striker, who recently joined the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, is said to be in good health and following self-isolation guidelines.
Apart from being absent from the La Liga schedule, he will not be able to defend Uruguay in the World Cup qualifiers against Brazil on Wednesday morning (11/18/2020).
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Rodrigo Munoz and backroom staff Matias Faral also tested positive for Uruguay.
AUF issued a statement which read: “The Uruguayan Football Association reports that swabs have been made on all members of the senior team.
“Including players Luis Suarez, Rodrigo Munoz and official Matias Faral tested positive for Covid-19, while all other tests were negative.
“The three members mentioned are in good health and related actions have been implemented.”

Suarez started alongside Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani in Uruguay's final game,
He scored from the penalty spot in the 3-0 win over Colombia on Saturday.
The 33-year-old is at his best for Atletico
And he will surely be disappointed not to have a chance to play against his former club at the weekend.
Suarez has scored five goals in six games in La Liga since his bitter exit from Camp Nou during the summer.
This has made him a key figure in the quest for Atletico's early title.
Meanwhile Diego Simeone's side now sit third in the top flight, three points behind leaders Real Sociedad with two games remaining.
Atletico are one point ahead of Real Madrid and six points ahead of Barca.
