Former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski has criticized club and coach Mikel Arteta for their treatment of Mesut Ozil.
At a GlanceSports – Lukas Podolski, who also played for Arsenal, believes his old team-mate deserves better treatment from the Premier League side.
Ozil, 32, has not featured in Arsenal's senior team since March and has been excluded from the Premier League and Europa League squad this season.
Mikel Arteta said in late October that he was trying to behave as fairly as possible to Ozil to keep him in the squad,
But Podolski said his former team-mates had been treated unfairly.
“I don't know his background, but I usually think with a player who is now in his sixth or seventh year with the club,
“To get him out of the squad completely isn't good at all,” he told Bild.
“You don't do anything like that, and I don't know if something happened behind the scenes or not but even if he does something you shouldn't be like that.
“He shows his class on the pitch, he has never been negative towards his team-mates or the club.
“It's sad that everyone loses in this situation. It shouldn't end like this. Arsenal as a club don't look positive in this situation. “

Ozil's situation has become a huge topic of conversation in the media, with the Germany international being the target of harsh criticism from many former Arsenal players and pundits over the past 12 months.
But former Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny voiced his support, describing him as a “very nice person”.
“As a player, I think he is the best. He can find the bait no one sees, he's a maestro, “he told L'Equipe.
“He can rock a game with incredible passes.
