Mario Gotze will play outside the Bundesliga for the first time in his career after joining PSV Eindhoven's Eredivisie side
At a GlanceSports – PSV have confirmed the signing of former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund star Mario Gotze on a two-year contract.
Gotze joined on a free transfer after his second stint with Dortmund ended at the end of the 2019-20 season when his contract expired.
“I had a lot of offers this summer but I am a person who has feelings and makes my own decisions,” Gotze told PSV's official website.
“So far I have always played in one league only, but now I have thought carefully about looking for a challenge outside the German league.”
The 28-year-old midfielder spent four seasons with Borussia Dortmund between 2016 and 2020 after he returned to his youth club from Bayern.
Ultimately his form dropped at Dortmund last season, making just 21 appearances in all competitions for Lucien Favre's side.
Gotze initially established himself as one of the brightest players in Germany with Dortmund at the start of the last decade before moving to Bayern in 2013.

The midfielder has played for the team 63 times by Germany,
And got his name in the history books when he scored the winning goal in extra time in the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina.
“Mario became interested after our head coach Roger Schmidt contacted him,” said PSV Football Director John de Jong.
“And in the end he accepted the challenge that we presented. We are delighted that he has signed with PSV. We are very proud.
“He can play every position in attack and midfield. And he has gained international experience and brings us the quality we need. “
After being without the team for several months, Gotze said he would play and claim he was satisfied with the Dutch giants.
“I keep training and get myself fit for new adventures. I can't wait to join my new team-mates for full training and prepare for the upcoming matches, “said Gotze.
Gotze has also been linked with a move to Hertha Berlin after sporting director Arne Friedrich confirmed the Bundesliga club's interest last month.
