DBasia.news – Adam Marusic revealed that his team, Lazio had to start the 2020/21 season with difficulty when they had to go away against Cagliari on Saturday (26/09) night. But in the end the Biancocelesti got through it successfully with the help of Marusic too.
Lazio midfielder Adam Marusic is very excited to finally be able to start the inaugural match of the 2020/21 Serie A season even though he thinks the match against the hosts Cagliari has been difficult for his team.
“Finally the new season has started and we hope to start with a win,” the midfielder said via Sky Sport Italia before the match.
“For sure it is a difficult match but we have prepared well.”
The midfielder starts on the left in a five-man formation in midfield but has also previously played on the right.
“Playing on the right or the left is a little different for me, the important thing is I can help the team.”
And it is true that the midfielder successfully helped Lazio win 2-0 in the inaugural match of Serie A this season, the Montenegrin made two assists for two goals scored by Manuel Lazzari and Ciro Immobile.
Lazzari scored the Biancocelesti's opener in the fourth minute while star striker Immobile doubled his side's win as the match entered the 74th minute, both of which took advantage of Marusic's deep cross.
Adam Marusic has indeed become one of the mainstays of The Aquile since he was brought in from Oostende in 2017, having had to leave for a long time in the 2019/20 season because of the injury he has now again proven his ability. In total he has made 89 appearances and contributed seven goals in all competitions.
The full three points collected in the inaugural match also served as a warning to the Biancocelesti aimed at their rivals in the 2020/21 season. Meanwhile, Simone Inzaghi's team is ranked fifth in the Serie A standings before they host Atalanta on September 30 and also Inter Milan at the weekend which will take place at the Stadio Olimpico.
