Mikel Arteta called on Arsenal to score more goals to complete their impressive defensive record in the Premier League.
At a Glance Sports – Mikel Arteta challenges Arsenal to score more goals to complete their impressive defensive record this season if they are to compete with the best in the Premier League.
The Gunners have conceded seven goals in their opening seven league games, although not so badly as other clubs, Arteta admits his side need to thrive in attack.
The 4-1 win against Molde in the Europa League on Friday (6/11) underlines the potential for scoring goals in Arsenal's squad,
But Gunners manager Arteta is aware that the consistency of the attack line must continue if it is to be a “top team”.
“To get the balance right is not easy. Taking into account the matches we have played this season; against Liverpool three times, Manchester City and Leicester. It's not easy, “said Arteta.
“It's something we've been working on in the last two weeks. You could see last night that we were much more fluent in attacking. We scored and we had more chances.
“It's part of a team that still has to develop because we haven't played many games against low blocks. It's something we have to improve on.
“To be a top team, you have to score 90-100 goals if you want to compete with the best players. This is a challenge for us and an area that we have to improve and get better. “

Arteta has shown confidence in the young players since he was appointed last December and believes 21-year-old midfielder Joe Willock's influential performance on the European stage is proof he is watching their development in a positive way.
“I think it is key in the development phase to be patient,” the former Arsenal captain said of Willock.
“But we also have to read the situation as it is. He plays in Europe regularly. Before it was just a case 'they can play in the Carabao Cup and we gave them [pemain muda] 10 minutes. not the case.
“He played minutes in important games. Does he want to start in the Premier League? Of course. But that's part of its development.
