USA international Sergino Dest said he was delighted to be part of the next generation of stars at Barcelona.
At a Glance Sports – Sergino Dest says he is delighted to be part of the next generation of stars at Barcelona.
This is supported because the full-back has quickly adapted to life at the Camp Nou this season.
The defender, along with young stars like Pedri and Ansu Fati, are expected to be a key figure at the Camp Nou going forward.
Dest has been a key figure at Barcelona since moving from Ajax, starting four games so far including El Clasico against Real Madrid last month.
The 20-year-old is part of a group of talented youths at Camp Nou, which also includes teen stars Pedri and Ansu Fati.
As key figures like Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets approach their mid-30s, Barca will increasingly rely on their younger options to advance.
And Dest says he hopes to grow at Barca with his talented young team-mates.
“It's great to be a part of that generation,” Dest told ESPN. “I think it's also good to play with some young players so they can adjust to the level.
“I think it's very clever that Barca are doing that now and giving us the opportunity to develop even faster.”
Dest have shown their versatility under Ronald Koeman this season, positioned as both left-back and right-back.

Although the US international admits he prefers to play on the right,
He loves to play wherever his manager puts him on the pitch.
“Left or right side, it doesn't matter to me,” said Dest.
“I play where the coach needs me. If I have to play left wing, I play left wing.
“No problem, I just want to play, but to be honest I think I am more comfortable on the right side.”
Dest adjusted quickly to Barcelona but admits it is still difficult to avoid stellar attacks when he looks around during matches and in training.
